From 1960 to 1974, Swami Hariharananda toured all over his beloved India to spread the message of Kriya Yoga.
1974 marked his first journey to the West, where he would return every year and spread the message of Divine Love through conscious awareness of the God within. He travelled tirelessly all over the world until a few short years before his mahasamadhi (conscious final exit of the body to merge with God) in 2002 at age 95—Europe, South America, the United States, and Canada, where he founded numerous centers and ashrams.
His noble mission is being continued by his monks and acharyas whom he lovingly trained over the years.
The life of a spiritual master is characterized as plain living and high thinking, and the entire life of Paramahamsa Hariharananda had been exceptional in that way. He never displayed any anger, pride, cruelty, insincerity, or other negative quality since his infancy. His life's purpose had been simply to love and guide people. Whoever came to his touch always received love, affection, and regard.
He initiated many governors, vice-presidents, high officers, along with the poor and beggars, males and females. All were equal to him. Among the many religions and spiritual traditions of the world, he moved without friction: his life, message, and outlook were only oneness. |
